Trees of Sandy Hook

Join a tree expert from the Littoral Society to examine and discuss the trees and shrubs of Sandy Hook.  We"ll start near the entrance to the park and work our way to the tip of the Hook looking at the common and well-known species like red cedar, bayberry, holly and poison ivy; then we"ll look for the uncommon like fragrant sumac and pin oak.  We"ll discuss some keys to identification, habitats and folklore. Meet at Littoral Society headquarters at 10:00 a.m.

Manasquan Classic Longboard Contest

16th Annual Manasquan Classic 9/14/2008 On Sunday, Sept. 14th, we will yet again pay homage to the sport of kings at the Manasquan Classic Longboard Contest!

This is a rain or shine event... the hurricane date is September 21st. There are divisions for everyone and, as always, the ONLY rules are contestants must ride a pre-1967 longboard (3' overhead), no leashes and no complaints - pretty much anything goes because it's all about the aloha! Check-in begins at 7:00am, first heat at 8:00am.

Qualifying boards will be available for use, so come on down - entry fee is only $35, which includes a contest t-shirt and the chance to win bragging rights over your buds!
