Playgrounds and sitting areas are also available every fewblocks. A movie is shown at 8th Avenue every Sundaystarting June 24; admission to these showings is free.

Additional Info:Bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk from Midnight until 10 a.m. during the beachseason. Fishing is allowed on beach jetties at Lake Terrace, Park Place and Brinley and 2nd avenues at thediscretion of lifeguards. Surfing is llowed at the 3rdAvenue beach. The one-mile boardwalk hasconcessions, a playground, miniature golf and a bandstand gazebo. From June 26 through Sept. 4, concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Toddler parks for children aged 1 to 4 are located at the beaches at Cliff, La Reine and 2nd avenues.

Additional Info: Windsurfing is permitted on South Beach Area C. Hiking trails begin at the Sandy Hook Visitor Center and at the north end of Nine Gun Battery Field. Walking ocean beaches is permitted except in shorebird nesting areas, which are closed during spring and summer.

The Sandy Hook Lighthouse, which has been in use for 243 years, is the country’s oldest.

Additional Info: Volleyball is permitted on a designated area on the main beach. Anchorage Beach is a state-owned, free beach, used primarily by surfers and fishermen. There is limited parking at Anchorage Beach. Much of the length of the town has no parking and no access to beach over the seawall.

Additional Info:Dogs are not permitted on the beach from May 1 to Sept. 30. Bicycle riding on the boardwalk is allowed only from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Motorized vehicles, skates and skateboards are not permitted at anytime on the beach or boardwalk. The throwing of balls or other objects such as Frisbees, paddleball and football is prohibited on beaches during bathing hours during the entire beach season, except at North Beach. Kite flying is prohibited on all beaches.

Surfing is permitted only at Philadelphia Boulevard beach. Kayaking is allowed at Trenton Boulevard and North Bell Place. Catamarans are permitted north of the Beacon Boulevard jetty as posted. Free tours of the Sea Girt Lighthouse, circa 1896, at Beacon Boulevard and Ocean Avenue are offered from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Names of Public Beaches: Beacon Beach, Brooklyn Beach, Baltimore Beach, Trenton Beach, North Beach, Chicago Beach, New York Beach, Boston Beach and Neptune/Seaside Beach.
