Raffle for a new Starboard SUP

Now…about that raffle….Wow, sorry y’all, if you’ve been coming back to this site to check on the status of the ever impending raffle for the kick-ass Starboard open ocean stand up board. I’ve got no excuses except my typical distractible and distracted self. But let me get on with the update….Starboard is generously donating a new, never been used kick-ass board---the same model as I’ve got and which they will let me keep for future attempts to paddle NJ without stopping—for this raffle. I’m totally blown away by this offer and am stoked to see Starboard behind the two causes. Childhood cancer rates continue to increase, and there is more, fresh oil in the Gulf. It’s completely amazing that there will now be a new board to raffle for both neuroblastoma research at CHOP and for water tests for Surfrider Foundation’s Emerald Coast Chapter!Anyway, I’m stoked to say that I’ll be raffling off this board on October 15th at the 3rd Annual Cooper River Halloween Race. It’s kind of a low-end casual race. There will definitely be cookies and an 8 mile course, that I can promise you as much as I can promise you anything. Everything else is always on the table. Registration is day of the race at the Cooper River Yacht Club. These folks are fantastic, and I’m looking forward to seeing them all again since I haven’t seen this incredibly enthusiastic bunch since ’09. The drawing of the raffle (tickets $10- email me if you want tickets!!) will be held post race, at 2pm, provided I didn’t once again mess up with the license paperwork for the state. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could simply correct your mistake, but many times it takes weeks to figure out exactly how you messed up (even had to get my elected officials involved!) and then weeks again for them to review everything…again! So I’m working on a contingency plan if, once again, my ineptness at State forms foils me again. In the meantime, the 2pm raffle on October 15th is what I’m gunning for.
