Signs of Spring

As the warm sun touched my back, I slowly opened my eyes. My little woodchuck tummy was grumbling. When I climbed out of my burrow the sweet smell of spring filled the air.

All the sights are magnificent! There were bird nests with eggs and some had chicks in them. I could hear the baby birds all the way down in my hole. After sleeping all winter the other animals were out gathering food for their young and themselves because you get very hungry during hibernation. As I pop my little head out of my hole, I look around and see everything from birds to bears and it is just wonderful.

When the sweet smells of spring fill your nose they are so rich and delicious. Flowers are blooming; the buds on the trees are bursting. The grass and clovers are so very green and fresh. The aroma of it all makes my mouth water. My nose twitches like crazy if I don’t taste the plants immediately! Can you believe how strong the fragrances are?

When it comes to spring nothing can compare to my life as a woodchuck. Everything is happening. There are so many things for me to see and smell. Birds are hatching, flowers are blooming and the best of all, the sun is shining. All of my neighbors are ready to jump into spring.
