| ![]() Margo scheduled to wrap up in N.O. SaturdayFrom Carl: Today, we're heading down to meet up with Margo again, but this time we'll be bringing her back home after she lands in New Orleans on Saturday. I just have a couple updates before we head down. Both of these roll over from from our last trip down over Mothers Day weekend: 1) The local NPR stations all across Florida ran a great news story covering her landing at St. Marks during the weekend that we visited her. That broadcast also helped me piece together a six-minute YouTube video which really says it all about what Margo has been doing these past three years... aptly titled, "Why She Paddles" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIvB8oJrp_A (Thank you to Melissa Waage, Paul Johnson, and Dr. Felicia Coleman for your hand in making it possible.) The video is also posted in Margo's website, www.Miami2Maine.com 2) Margo's meeting with Gov. Crist. The attached link is an online media post about Margo meeting with the Governor. http://bruceritchie.blogspot.com/2009/05/mom-on-1000-mile-paddling-trip-... What was very encouraging is that Gov. Crist recently expressed his opposition to a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) pipeline off the coast of Florida. Because governors have veto power over such projects, the applicant, Calypso, just abandoned their plans there and left. Why this is significant and relevant is because that is what NJ Governor Corzine could do for potential projects which loom in NJ's future, but hasn't. One of Margo's crusades at home is the battle against LNG off the Jersey shore - artificial islands eight times the size of Giants Stadium - proposed to be constructed offshore.
