Concerns grow about dolphins in Hackensack River

HACKENSACK -- People are raising concerns about a pod of dolphins that are swimming in a northern New Jersey river.

The 8 to 15 mammals were first spotted in the Hackensack River on Wednesday. They've been swimming near Hackensack, Teaneck and Bogota....

8 Rescued from Sinking Vessel in NJ

CAPE MAY, N.J. (AP)  -- Eight crew members aboard a sinking sport fishing boat were safely rescued Saturday in waters off southern New Jersey. A passing boat notified the Coast Guard around 11:15 a.m. that the Always Late, a 48-foot vessel about 55 miles east of Cape May, was taking on water.  Read more »

5,000 Gallons of Gasoline Spills into Newark Bay

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Officials were cleaning up a massive fuel spill in Newark Bay Monday night.

The Coast Guard said as much as 5,000 gallons of gasoline spilled into the water near the Bayonne Bridge.

Coast Guard officials said it was a barge to barge transfer that was taking place when the spill occurred around 6 p.m.

The closest area of land is the Richmond Terrace section of Staten Island.  Read more »
